Despite their on court success, Akropol lacked major sponsors for the 2005/2006 season. Their unique geographical and cultural status - being based in the Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby where 90% have foreign backgrounds and unemployment rates run high - seemed to scare off potential sponsors.

But we saw this, and the fact that Akropol also runs youth centers and see their top team as a means to inspire kids to get into meaningful activities, as a great opportunity. We want to create the most attractive sports team in Scandinavia – where Sports, Music and Fashion converge into an appealing mix to a young, multicultural crowd. Majors sponsors soon followed.
